Getting In and Out of a Hammock. The right way to get in and out of a hammock is also the safest. The easiest and safest way to enter and exit a hammock is by making sure your weight is placed as near-center as possible.

With the hammock properly hung on a stand or between trees, stand with your back at the side in the center of the bed of the hammock. Grabbing the side of the hammock bed, pull the hammock toward your knees. This will pull the center closer to your "seat". Sit down slowly into as near the center of the hammock as possible. Once seated, lay your head back to one end of the hammock (toward the spreader bar) and swing your feet up to the opposite end. Stability is greater with hammocks that includes spreader bars at each end. To exit the hammock rise slowly to a sitting position, swinging the feet around to the ground. From a sitting position, stand up.

This process is the same for a rope woven hammock or a quilted or fabric bed hammock. Note: Rope hammocks may stretch upon first use. Use caution when entering the hammock as to not "bottom-out." If the hammock does stretch to the point that you are touching the ground or the hammock stand center pole, exit the hammock and readjust the end chain to heighten the hammock.

The Many Uses Of A Hammock

Nothing could be simpler than setting up a hammock, most of he time you will simply remove it from the packaging and set it up on a stand or attach it to a couple of trees. They are comfortable and can be used both indoors and out. The military uses them to save space for soldiers to rest. They come in a variety of fabrics and sizes to accommodate any taste. There are even hammocks for pets. They come in the choice of styles such as fabric, rope, Mayan, Pawleys Island, beach and camping hammocks.

Fabric hammocks are the ultimate in comfort. They are available in quilted designs and come in many patterns and colors to coordinate perfectly with existing themes. They have a seamless finish and are easy to clean. When using a hammock around children they are a safer design than rope eliminating the fear of catching arms and legs in the webbing.

Rope designs are the classic look in a hammock. They allow the ultimate in ventilation and are great in humid and warm environments. They are the perfect compliment to an outdoor patio for a great island look.

Mayan hammocks are woven by artisans and each one takes up to 90 hours to complete. They are soft and strong and very comfortable. They are woven from strings but can withstand up to a thousands pounds of weight.

Pawleys Island hammocks are a design with a long history. This 100 year old tradition originates in the Southern United States and conjures up visions of plantation luxury. This rope design uses the highest quality materials and the symmetric patterns lend a beautiful touch to the design.

Whether relaxing at the beach or camping, a hammock is an inexpensive solution for comfort and a lightweight alternative to hiking in heavy beach furniture or camping tents and sleeping bags. One can have an adventure anywhere with a hammock.
