How To Set Up A Wood Hammock Stand

Many people enjoy lying on a hammock in their backyard. A wood hammock stand holds the hammock in place and keeps the person from falling. It comes in a variety of styles, such as classic frame, bow arc and single arc. The stand is made of a solid wood surface and finished to protect from the weather elements. If you are thinking about buying a hammock, then you will need to decide on where to hang it. Most people think of hanging it between two trees, but that is not always the case. There are a variety of ways to hang a hammock. Hammocks also come in a variety of styles, such as with and without spreader bars.

Distance and height will have to be determined after finding a location. The wooden hammock stands with bars should be hung around four to five feet above the ground. The swinging chairs without spreader bars should sit six to eight feet off the ground.

The distance for hanging it will depend on the overall length. A 14 feet swinging chair would need a minimum distance of 14 feet from each hanging point. If the location of choice is between two trees, then you will need to extend the hanging points with a rope or chain. The same rules would apply when using a stand as well. The hanging points will not need to be extended no more than an additional three feet. Anything more will lead to the chair tipping over when someone is sitting in it. There is more flexibility with hanging chairs without bars because they can adjust to the space. The space should be wide enough for moving in and out.
